House Extensions designed and built....... An example!.

The family-run firm is based in Eastleigh, completing building extensions in the local area, in Southampton, Winchester, and the wider Hampshire area. Foundations and Footings The foundations and the footings built. The oversite you see here is made up from 150mm hardcore with a 40mm sand blinding followed by the 1200 gauge Damp Proof Membrane then the 100mm cellotex insulation seen here. The joints are taped and inspected by the Council then a 150mm concrete cap poured over the top.

Building out of the ground

Extension Once the oversite is concreted the extension can take form. There is a 100mm cavity with 100mm Thermolight blocks and 50mm cellotex cavity insulation held in place with wall ties and buttons. Then there is the 100mm outside brick course. We are building on the back of the premises leaving the existing kitchen extension in situ and building over the top of the whole house to form the loft conversion without exposing the existing house to the weather.

Blending new with old ..........

Blending new with old Firfix Extension to Main House. Here we are bolting onto one wall of the existing kitchen extension using firfix wall ties. The hole has been excavated for the drainage to be installed.  There are 2 forms of connection either toothing in or as above using Fir-Fix wall ties

Building tower........

Tower for reaching the gable The loft conversion A tower is used here to enable work to be carried out on the ridge and rafters. Here you see the new gable built up from the existing main house and the doorway in what will be the new loft conversion.

The Gable Wall

Roof tiles to match Velux windows in The new roof is now insulated, felt and battened and tiled in, and is now fully water tight. The new loft conversion is now built over the existing house and sheeted in every night to keep dry. Once the entire roof has been built and tiled, the inside work can commence. The existing roof is now removed and the breakthroughs into the main house are started. we work and build extensions in and around Eastleigh Southampton and Winchester Hampshire

Framing the extension doors........

Framing extension doors Building in the French Doors The new French doors are being positioned and held into place so as to be built in. The central supporting wall is also being built and firfixed to the existing house. The roof has been temporarily stripped back for the supporting walls plate to line up exactly

Installing the cavity insulation

Insulation Cellotex Cavity Insulation . Cellotex cavity insulation held on with the wall ties and buttons. This will achieve the necessary UV values accepted by the local authority,(local burgh council)

Upvc windows ..........

UPVC WINDOWS Building in the Windows The upvc windows are built in and the brickwork goes on up to the joist level. The joists are placed at 400mm centres and supported on the middle wall, and the joists that are to go over the existing kitchen are notched into the existing flat roof again so as not to break into the house until the last minute, keeping the customer happy.

Building in the joists........

Building in The Joists Joists on supporting wall Joists supported on the central wall and a concrete lintel over the door opening. These will be extended over the top of the existing kitchen.  These timbers are 50mm x 200mm.  A Catnic lintel is provided over the French Doors, this will be calculated within the engineers design

The Gable Wall

Building The gable wall The timber ladder built into the gable wall. The gable with ladder to the new roof being built in, scaffolding to enable a cropped roof to be constructed above the bedroom's French doors. Railings or balcony will need to be built up to 1100mm high in front of the French doors
